Carew Castle has an interesting mixture of the strong defences of a medieval stronghold and the grandeur of a Tudor mansion, attractively located right next to the Carew River, dammed in the 16th century to form the mill pond.
This famous Welsh castle incorporates an impressive 11th century Celtic cross, the only restored complete tidal mill in Wales, and a medieval bridge with a picnic area. All these are linked by a delightful one-mile circular walk which boasts uninterrupted views of Carew castle with an easy access path suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
